Coach matt

Coach Matt started REZ Sports with a vision of youth sports training being refocused on the athlete instead of the organization. He found his purpose by using his experience of 14 years playing baseball and 20 years coaching/training baseball and softball athletes. In 2021, he decided it was time to bring together other passionate coaches and trainers to benefit youth athletes.
Coach Matt uses his experience to create custom training sessions that encompasses skills, strength, and the ability to make in-game adjustments as needed. During training, he believes in teaching techniques that will not only help young athletes in their sport, but also through the rest of their lives.
Coach KARSEN
Hitting•Pitching•Fielding
Coach Karsen has played softball since she was old enough to hold a bat and has loved the game ever since. Now that her playing days are over, her goal is to inspire and nurture young athletes who share the same love for the game. She played select softball for 10 years as well as being a 4 year varsity letter, earning a gold glove. This led her to continue her softball and academic career at Austin College where she’s been awarded numerous accolades.
This experience and God’s guidance has let her to serve as a select coach as well as a trainer with REZ. She aspires to help young athletes not only develop their skills but also their character and integrity in His name.
Coach Abeni
Hitting•Fielding
Coach Abeni has consistently excelled in academics and athletics, graduating as a Top 5 student while ranking in the Top 2% of her class and earning four years of Honor Roll recognition. She was also named a 3x LoneStarPreps.com Texas Top Shortstop (2025).
Throughout her high school career, Abeni earned numerous honors including All-District selections, NFCA All-State Student Athlete recognition, NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete honors, and THSCA Academic All-State accolades in both Softball and Sports Medicine. She also reached major career milestones with 100 runs scored and 200 strikeouts while earning KHS Infielder of the Year and the prestigious Heart of a Lion Award.Coach Abeni brings a passion for player development, discipline, and leadership to REZ Sports, helping athletes grow both on the field and in life.
Coach Macie’s journey is defined by speed, versatility, and a relentless competitive drive. A standout at Kaufman High School, she was a 4-year varsity athlete, stolen base record holder, MVP, and multi-year Academic All-District honoree, helping lead her team to Bi-District appearances while earning All-District honors as both an outfielder and pitcher.
She continued her career at Austin College as a utility player and pitcher, making an impact with her adaptability and high softball IQ before medically retiring in 2026. A left-handed offensive threat, Macie brings a dynamic skillset with slapping, bunting, and traditional hitting, paired with elite baserunning instincts and defensive versatility. Known for her work ethic and team-first mindset, she plays—and now leads—with a focus on discipline, growth, and doing things the right way on and off the field.

Coach Kelsey

Coach Kelsey “K5” Wathen joins REZ Sports with an outstanding background both on and off the field. A former 3-year varsity athlete at Heath HS, Kelsey graduated early to continue her softball career at Abilene Christian University. During her time with Heath, she earned Team MVP honors, the Heart of Heath Award, and Academic All-District recognition all 3 years while also serving in the National Honors Society.
Kelsey is passionate about developing athletes through hitting, infield, and catching instruction while also leading by example through her servant leadership, ministry involvement, and mission work. Her energy, character, and love for the game make her an incredible addition to the REZ Sports family.
